Description
The main objective of HEMEN is to reinforce a line of work of great interest for the Basque industry and LTC-Green Concrete: the development of new materials for marine energy harvesting structures. The development of high-performance ecological concretes with new functionalities is specifically proposed. HEMEN is divided into 4 work packages, focusing on concrete components (additives, additions, cement, aggregates and reinforcements), and has complementary funding and good sustainability prospects. The team is made up of researchers from the UPV/EHU and TECNALIA, as well as three undergraduate and master's degree students.
Applicability/impact of the results:
The renewable energy sector in general, and the marine energy industry in particular, has experienced exponential growth in recent years due to European policies to reduce CO2 emissions. However, the consolidation of this sector depends to a large extent on the reduction of energy production costs and the environmental impact of this type of infrastructure. The HEMEN project aims to contribute by developing ecological concretes specifically designed for this use.
